Original Black Natural Carbon Triathlon Model (High Performance Series), Made in France.
Monobloc carbon frame made with the HM / High Modulus designation. Color is natural carbon black with a gloss finish. Frames with the HM designation are made of a superior reinforced carbon construction, designed to take the rigors of prolonged professional level racing, substantially increasing value and manufacturing cost. One hundred man hours per frame to manufacture.
Offered is an original Look KG 496 Triathlon road model.
The Look KG 496 Triathlete model has a slightly more upright position, keeping the rider better positioned over the bottom bracket, more comfortable thanks to less craning of the neck and compression of hip flexors.
The Look KG 496 TT model is UCI compliant. One effect of the UCI’s strict rules, where the nose of the saddle must be at least 50mm back from the bottom bracket.
The KG 496 Piste was o
riginally designed for the Athens French Track Cycling Olympians. Looks KG 496 Piste (track) was then after adapted for triathletes and road time trial-list. Two new road versions of the KG 496 were made: the Triathlon and the Time Trial which is UCI compliant and has the more laid-back geometry preferred by Grand Tour riders
The 496 Triathlon and Time Trial are by-products of the 496 Piste Athens, winner of 9 medals in Athens. A frame developed for the track, which also enjoys an exceptional CX (air penetration coefficient). Look engineers have adapted track technology to the specifications of the road. The weight of the frame has been lightened and the stiffness adapted to the discipline. More than 100 hours are necessary to manufacture of this completely hand-made frame.
Rarely offered on the secondary market, particularly in this strong near new condition. For the most part a collectors show bike, hardly ever ridden (a hand full of times), a one owner bicycle, always serviced by a Look authorized mechanic and has been given a complete frame integrity analysis.
Original black natural carbon appears as new, no fading nor dull finish, clear coat is brilliant, shiny and beautiful.
You'll find a small mark on the drive side BB area where the chain derailed once, two very small marks on the top tube from incidental contact and a light scuff on the right side seat stay from incidental contact. There rest is in mint condition.
Size as noted by serial numbers near the frame bottom bracket (see images), indicating M for size (medium).
